A magical villa in Propriano

We rented the house via Airbnb.
We were 8 adults who shared the house for a week, and, this really is a dream house if you are thinking about going away with friends, take it easy and make a few fun excursions in Corsica. Would you like to bring the kids there is a kids bedroom with plenty of toys.
The place is a rental only. We rented the house one week after the high season ended and the diffeernce in price was huge. A great tip.
The villa is located on top of a hill with a magnificant view over Propriano and the sea. c. five minutes drive down to the village. It takes 25 minutes to walk.

The exterior

Plenty of room to park your car outside on the patio.

The kitchen window to the left.

The back of the house. Perfect for a morning yoga (there are yoga mats in the house) or you could take the path down to the village for a power walk along the beautiful beach.
The house

The living area.

The kitchen is well planned with oven, gas stove and dish washer from Gaggenau. Plenty of space as well for those wanting to help out at dinner time.

You will find the master bedroom on the top floor (see the green door).

How about a cup of coffee or a coctail on this terrace and this view?

The idea was to visit all the cosy restaurants down in the village of Propriano but we ended up having dinner at home almost avery night. The evening were still warm so you could sit outside.

Downstairs, there is a small gym as well as four bedrooms.

The pool area

Marthe found a pink pool bed in the storehouse (this house really has everythink) and relaxes in the sun.

The lunch is served!

In the pool area there is an ice machine, washing machine, jacuzzi and a grill.

Every night…
Restaurant tips in Propriano
Terra Cotta – my husband and I had our anniversary dinner here. The food is really good and the place is cozy. Terra Cotta is listed in Guide Michelin.
Le Rescator – the whole gang had dinner here one evening and it was great.
There are lots of restaurants along the boardwalk, Avenue Napoléon III, most of them are good I think.
Where to stay in Corsica?
We gave a lot of thought on where in Corsica we would stay and actually let the house decide. We did not regret this because Propriano is a lovely fishing village in western Corsica, between Ajaccio and Bonifacio. You will also find lots of nice restaurants here where to dine alfresco.
You do not come to Propriano for all the activities because there are none. Well, basically you have the beach and then there is the the pretty cemetary up on the hill, the church Notre Dame de la Misericorde and a beautiful beach on the farthest end of the Avenue Napoléon III, Plage de Lido.
And shopping? Nope, you will do that elsewhere.
Why stay in Propriano, then? It is a perfect starting point if you want to make excursions to nearby villages, like Ajaccio and Bonifacio for example.
If you prefer staying in a larger village that offers more I would recommend renting a house close to Bonifacio at the southern tip of Corsica. There is plenty to see here, inter alia an old fortress and beautiful arcitecture, great museums as well as shopping and restaurants. ALso, there are a lot more tourists here as well and the prices are higher.
Ajaccio is a beautiful town, and I would recommend to book something here if you are into a city vacation.
